Interactive whiteboard systems An interactive whiteboard system is a small device that attaches itself to a standard dry wipe whiteboard to turn it into an interactive whiteboard. Ideal in education for making good use of existing standard whiteboards and in business for a portable interactive solution (you can even use a plain white wall or door if no whiteboard was available at your clients premises.) In the UK, eBeam, manufactured by Luidia, and Mimio, manufactured by Virtual Ink, are the most popular interactive whiteboard systems. Pictures along the top show the eBeam Projector, which is used with a projector and laptop to turn the whiteboard into an interactive whiteboard. eBeam Whiteboard (formerly called eBeam System3), can be used without a projector for copyboard mode. Pictures along the bottom row shows the BECTA compliant mimio Interactive, which connects to a PC or laptop and a projector, to turn a standard whiteboard into an interactive whiteboard. You can also use mimio Capture (formerly mimio Xi) without a projector to turn the whiteboard into a copyboard. Multi-use licences mean you can take the device from classroom to classroom or use in multiple training rooms without having to pay a licence fee for each computer onto which the software is loaded.
